To say that things are going well, well that's an understatement :) Here's mom's report about yesterday, Friday August 23rd.

Maggie had her first outpatient clinic visit this morning (Friday August 23) and it went GREAT!!! Her hemoglobin is holding steady at 8.4. it has drifted between 8.2-8.7 for 2 weeks now! I still can't believe her body is making enough red blood cells to keep her steady. Before long we will start seeing a normal hemoglobin count without transfusions..AMAZING. It is still normal over the next few months for her to require transfusions here and there, especially if she were to get an infection or viral illness..but its really amazing that her counts are holding steady!

Her platelets have started to slowly increase on their own! Last Tuesday they were 37, then 43 on Wednesday, today they were 54!

Her white count was down to 2.1 with an ANC of 1,400. They said it is expected for it to drop. If it drops below 1,000 she will get a dose of G-CSF the hormone that makes it rise. They may need to do that a few times before things start to level out on their own.

She's doing so well that sometimes its hard to forget that she just went through something MAJOR and its going to take awhile for things to be "normal" again. She is doing SO SO SO GOOD!!!

Her blood pressure was great in clinic (actually it was a little low..go figure!) and her liver functions all look good! She has no signs of graft vs. host at this time and just seems so content and happy.

Her cyclosporin level did come back a little low, so they increased her dose and they will re-check on Monday. That is a med that they constantly have to check the level and adjust as needed. If the level is too low she could get graft vs host and if it's too high it can cause a lot of serious problems...so they check frequently.

Maggie is loving life right now. We went for a walk yesterday..she walked over a mile by herself. Did not want to be carried or ride in the stroller. They gave us the OK today for her to not wear the mask if we are just going for a walk outside...thank goodness because it was 90 yesterday and I felt so bad for her walking in that heat with that heavy mask on. They said she needs to wear it when shes in the hospital halls, waiting rooms, if we had to go in a store or anywhere where there could be a crowd..but it's OK to be outside in the fresh air without it..YAY.

I am so excited at the progress Maggie is making and I keep praying for more good days!!! Thank you all for checking in and again for your thoughts, prayers, love, cards, gifts..etc. You guys are all amazing.
