Doug Fister pitched seven solid innings while Andrew Benintendi, Eduardo Nunez and Hanley Ramirez hit home runs as the Red Sox beat the Yankees last night 4-1.

Fister has an ERA of 1.57 in his last three starts. Three months ago, he was pitching in the minors wondering if his career was over.

Addison Reed and Craig Kimbrel pitched the 8th and 9th innings. Kimbrel got save #32.

The offense was powered by the long ball. Benintendi's homer was his 5th this season against the Yankees. The only Sox player to do that under the age of 24 is Ted Williams.

The win gets Boston back to 5.5 games ahead of the Yanks in the AL East.

Two more games in this final series of the year between the Sox and Yankees. Saturday afternoon's pregame begins at 12:20 with the first pitch at 1:05 on AM 1370 WDEA
