The Boston Red Sox took Game 2 of the 3 game series Saturday night thanks to solid starting and relief pitching and back to back homers by Xavier Bogaerts and Danny Santana in the 6th inning, as they beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3.

Bogaerts clubbed his 10th home run of the season, and finished the night 1-3 with 2 runs batted in.

Santana hit his 2nd homer in as many days, and played centerfield to give Alex Verdugo a night off. He finished 1-3

Rafael Devers hit a double, his 14th of the season and drove in a run.

On the mound Nathan Eovaldi went 5.1 innings, striking out 4 and walking 2. He's now 5-2 on the season.

Josh Taylor pitched 0.2 innings, striking out 1.

Philips Valdez came on in the 6th inning and went 0.1 inning, allowing 1 hit and 1 run.

Darwinzon Hernandez struck out 2, including Bryce Harper and Brad Wilson and left the bases loaded in the 6th.

Adam Ottavino struck out the side in the 8th inning

Matt Barnes closed it out in the 9th inning. Striking out 2 and picking up his 11th save in 12 chances.

The Red Sox are in 1st place and remain 1.0 game ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays who have won 9 games in a row. The Yankees, winners of 5 games in a row are 1.5 games back in 3rd place.
