The SkillsUSA competition is taking place at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Tara Mason, the Business Leadership and Hospitality Instructor at Hancock County Technical Center provided this report of Day 1

"Hancock County Technical Center (HCTC) had a wonderful day one at the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference in Bangor today.
We had students compete in Career Pathways, Promotional Bulletin Board, Prepared Speech, Job Interview, Employment Application Process, Health Occupations Portfolio, Medical Terminology, Medical Math, State Officer and Early Childhood, all held at the Cross Insurance Center.
Competitions will continue tomorrow morning (Friday) at 6a.m., at Cross Insurance Center, United Technologies Center and Eastern Maine Community College.
Opening Ceremony brough fun and excitement as well as the kick off to recognition. HCTC is proud to announce they received the Quality Chapter Award, and the Chapter of Distinction Award Gold Level and chapter Advisor Tara Mason received the Maine State SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year Award."
