Should Teams Sit Star Players? — Sports Survey of the Day
It’s a question that is often asked when a season in coming to an end. Should the star players sit or continue playing? The Washington Nationals have decided that it may be a good idea to sit their star pitcher, Stephen Strasburg. Fans are a little upset by this, and so is Strasburg himself. The Nationals are caught in a tough spot, though. Strasburg is having an unbelievable season coming off Tommy John surgery, so they want to take precautions heading into the playoffs.
Baseball isn’t the only sport where a star player will sit towards the end of a season. In the NFL, if a team is doing well in the final weeks, they won’t hesitate to sit them. Is this fair to the fans? They pay a lot of money to see these players in action. If a star sits, should fans still have to pay as much to watch their backup play?
