Route 1A Fire Sunday Afternoon in Lucerne

If you're traveling between Ellsworth and Brewer Sunday afternoon, September 20th expect delays on Route 1A in the Lucerne Inn area.

Bruce Cookson of Eastbrook was operating a blue 2003 Dodge Ram pickup hauling a 35 foot camper southbound on Rt1A in Dedham.

The front of the camper began to smoke and catch fire and Bruce was able to pull off to the side of the road as it continued to burn.

Local Fire Departments responded and were able to put the fire out although the truck and camper are both considered a total loss. Bruce suffered a minor hand injury while attempting to initially put the fire out but refused medical treatment. The vehicle and camper were towed from the scene.
