Prior to Wednesday night's game, the Boston Red Sox announced that they signed Roman Anthony to an 8-year contract extension through 2033 with a club option for 2034.

Anthony, who is 21 years old has hit .283, going 45-159. He has scored 27 runs, and has hit 15 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homers and has driven in 19 run. He has walked 26 times, since making his Major League debut on June 9th.

Anthony has made 19 stars in right field, 13 as designated hitter and 9 in left field. He has reached base safely in 35 of the last 38 games since June 18th.

He began the season in Triple A Worcester, where he hit .288 going 61-212 in 58 games.
