Boston was within 1 out of a 7-4 win on Wednesday night against the Texas Rangers. But the Red Sox were unable to turn the 4-6-3 double play and then Wyatt Langford crushed a 3-run homer to tie the game. Boston lost the game 9-7 as Texas hit 3 homers from the 8th through 10th innings.
Tanner Houck started on the mound for Boston, and went 6.2 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 3 and walked 2.
Josh Winckowski allowed 3 runs in the 9th inning and Zack Kelly 2 runs in the 10th.
Masataka Yoshida was 3-4 with a double.
Romy Gonzalex was 1-2 with a double and drove in 3 runs batted in.
Wilyer Abreu was 1-5 with a solo homer in the 6th innings.
Danny Jansen was 1-3 with a run batted in, in the 9th inning.
Rafael Devers was 1-4, extending his on-base streak to 19 games, the longest active streak in the American League.
