Red Sox Lose to Yankees 4-3 Setting Up Win Or Go Home Game 3 Thursday

The Boston Red Sox lost to the New York Yankees 4-3 on Wednesday night, October 1st in Game 2 of the Best of 3 Wild Card Series.

New York jumped out to a 2-0 lead int he 1st inning as Ben Rice hit a 2-run homer off Brayan Bello

Red Sox manager Alex Cora was aggressive managing his pitching staff, yanking Bello after 2.1 innings. He allowed 4 hits and 2 runs, walking 1, throwing just 28 pitches.

Justin Wilson, Justin Slaten, Steven Matz and Zack Kelly combined to hold the Yankees to just 1 run, through the 7th inning.

Garrett Whitlock allowed the winning run to score in the 8th inning.

Trevor Story hit a solo home run in the 6th inning to tie the score at 3-3. He drove in all 3 runs, singling in the 3rd inning, driving in Jarren Duran and Ceddanne Rafaela, tying the game at 2-2.

Boston left 5 men on base, and were 2-7 with runners in scoring position.
