The Boston Red Sox beat the Houston Astros, salvaging 1 game of the 3 game series against Houston, at Fenway Park, Sunday night, 6-5 with Mitch Moreland driving in the winning run on a bloop single. The Red Sox win, combined with the Yankees loss to Seattle means the Red Sox magic number to win the AL East is 11 games.

Moreland was 2-2 and his bloop single to left was his 5th career walk-off hit.

JD Martinez was 1-4 driving in 4 runs with his 40th homer of the season. He's 2nd in the  majors with 40 homers and leads with 121 runs batted in. That's the most for the Red Sox since David Ortiz drove in 127 in 2016.

Xander Bogaerts was 4-4 with a run batted in and a walk, reaching base all 5 times he was at the plate.

Mookie Betts was 2-4 with 2 doubles, and reached on a walk. He scored on all 3 instances.

Rick Porcello went 5.2 innings allowing 7 hits, 4 runs, striking out 6 and walking 1. Craig Kimbrel picked up the win, he's now 5-1

The Boston Red Sox are off on Monday, September 10th, and play host to Toronto on Tuesday, September 11th. Chris Sale comes off the disabled list and will start for the Red Sox with the pregame starting at 6:25 and 1st pitch at 7:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
