The Boston Red Sox picked up a much-needed win, beating the Los Angeles Angels 11-9 as Ceddanne Rafaela hit a 2-run walk-off home run, wrapping the ball around the Pesky Pole in right field.

Rafaela's home run snapped a 4-game losing streak. The homer was projected to have traveled 308 feet, the shortest homer in 2025, and the shortest hit by a Red Sox player at Fenway Park since 2015.

Carlos Narvaez was 2-4 with an RBI single in the 4th inning that tied the game at 7-7.

David Hamilton was 2-3 with a double and drove in 2 runs in the 1st inning that gave Boston a 5-4 lead.

Lucas Giolito started for the Red Sox and was hit hard. He went only 1.2 innings, allowing 8 hits and 7 runs.

The bullpen was and continues to be overtaxed, but outstanding. In the Red Sox's last 28 games, since May 5th, the relievers have posted a 2.63 earned run average, allowing 36 earned runs in 123.0 innings.

On Wednesday the Red Sox used 6 relievers. Luis Guerrero, Brennan Bernardino, Justin Wilson Garrett Whitlock, Greg Weissert and Cooper Criswell combined to pitch 7.1 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 runs. They struck out 7 and walked 3. Criswell picked up the win, pitching the final 1.2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season.
