The Boston Red Sox lost to the Minnesota Twins 4-2 on Saturday, May 23rd. It was the 22nd game that the Red Sox had been held to 2 runs or less in their 51 games this season.
Jovani Moran started for the Red Sox pitching 1 inning and allowing 3 hits and 2 runs striking out 1. Brayan Bello came on and pitched 5.0 innings allowing 8 hits and 2 runs, striking out 5 and walking 1.Tyler Samaniego pitched a hitless 7th inning, striking out the side. Ryan Watson pitched the 8th and 9th innings allowing just 1 hit and striking out 3.
Boston managed just 5 hits in the game.
Ceddanne Rafaela was 1-3 with a double, driving in a run in the 4th inning.
Willson Contreras was 2-3. He sparked a bench-clearing scuffle when he tried to score and collided with catcher Victor Caratini when he was tagged out.
