The Boston Red Sox beat the Washington Nationals 6-4 on Sunday, July 6th to sweep the series and improve to 46-45 and finally getting 1 game over .500

Garrett Crochet labored but picked up the win and is 9-4. He went 5.0 innings, allowing 9 hits and 2 runs, striking out 7 and walking 2.

Garrett Whitlock, Justin Wilson, Greg Weissert, Aroldis Chapman and Jordan Hicks all combined to allow 3 hits and 2 runs, striking out 4. Hicks picked up his 1st save as a Red Sox player, despite giving up 1 run in the 9th inning.

Boston belted 2 home runs in the game. Trevor Story hit a 2-run homer in the 1st inning, his 14th of the season, when Boston scored 4 runs.

Ceddanne Rafaela homer in the 9th, to give the Red Sox an important insurance run. It was his 11th of the season. Rafaela finished the game 3-4.

Romy Gonzalez and Abraham Toro each had a pair of hits.

Rob Refsnyder and Jarren Duran each doubled.

After the game the National fired manager Dave Martinez and general manager Mike Rizzo.

Boston is now 46-45, and in 4th place. They have won 3 in-a-row and are 6-4 in their last 10 games.

Boston returns home to Fenway on Monday, July 7th, to start a 3-game series with the Colorado Rockies followed by 4 games with the Tampa Bay Rays. Monday's night pregame starts at 6:10 p.m. with the 1st pitch at 4:10 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
