Red Sox Starting Pitchers Falter Again – Lost to Mariners 6-5
The Boston Red Sox starting pitching was sub-par again on Saturday night, as Eduardo Rodriguez allowed 6 runs in 4.1 innings and the Red Sox lost to the Mariners 6-5, falling to 1-2 on the season.
Rodriguez went 4.1 innings allowing 8 hits, 6 runs, of which 5 were earned, striking ouit 5 and walking 3. He allowed a homer. The good news the Red Sox bullpen allowed just 2 hits and no runs in 3.2 innings of relief.
The Red Sox scored 3 runs in the 9th inning, but Xander Bogaerts struck out to end the game with a runner at 3rd.
Mitch Moreland had a double, and Rafael Devers, JD Martinez and Jackie Bradely Jr. each had 2 hits.
