
Red Sox Squander 4-Run Lead, Fall to Baltimore 5-4
The Boston Red Sox had an early 4-0 lead over the Orioles. leading at the top of the 3rd inning. But Chris Sale allowed 5 runs, and Boston lost to the O's 5-4, as Baltimore won their 7th straight game.
Sale did not record a strikeout, going 5.0 innings and allowing 9 hits and 5 runs. He walked a batter.
Ryan Brasier pitched the 6th, and newly acquired Brennan Bernadino pitched 2 scoreless innings, allowing 4 hits. Bernadino, a lefty, was called up from Triple A Worcester earlier in the day, when the Red Sox optioned Brayan Bello after his start on Sunday.
Masataka Yoshida continued with a hot-bat. After hitting 2 home runs on Sunday in 1 inning, including a grand slam, he reached base 4 times, going 3-3 and reaching on a walk. He's lifted his average to .265
