Red Sox Split Doubleheader with Guardians Losing Game 1 5-4 Winning Game 2 7-3 [VIDEO]

The Boston Red Sox split a doubleheader with the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday April 26th, losing the 1st game 5-4 and winning the 2nd game 7-3

Game 1

The Red Sox took an early 3-0 lead in the 1st inning, in Wilyer Abreu's 2-out 3-run homer, but Tanner Houck struggled in the 1st inning, allowing 4 runs as Cleveland took a 4-3 lead.

Houck settled down after the 1st inning and ended up pitching 5.0 innings, allowing 4 runs, striking out 6 and walking 1.

Brennan Bernardino took the loss, allowing 1 run and 2 hits, striking out 1, while recording 2 outs. He's now 1-1. Greg Weissert pitched the final 1.1 innings, holding Cleveland hitless, striking out 2.

Rafael Devers hit his 3rd homer in the 3rd inning.

Alex Bregman hit a double and was 2-5.

Game 2

Jarren Duran hit a triple, and stole home! It was the Red Sox's 1st straight steal of home since Jacoby Ellsburt did it in 2009. Ellsbury ended the day 3-5 with a pair of runs batted in.

Walker Buehler picked up the win, and is 4-1. He allowed 7 hits and 3 runs, in 6.0 innings. He struck out 3 and walked 1.

Justin Wilson pitched the 7th inning, striking out 1. Justin Slaten pitched the 8th, striking out and walking 1. Aroldis Chapman pitched the 9th, striking out 2.

Rafael Devers was 2-4 with a double, his 8th of the season.

Alex Bregman was 1-3 with a run batted in. Rob Refsnyder was 1-4 with a double and run batted in. Kristian Campbell was 2-5 with a double.

Boston is now 15-14, 2nd in the AL East, while Cleveland is 15-11, 2nd in the AL Central.
