Red Sox “Sale” to Victory Friday Night

The Boston Red Sox scored 5 runs in the top of the 1st inning on Friday night, July 21st and Chris Sale took it from there, as the Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-2 as the Red Sox started a 6 game road trip with a win.

Chris Sale recorded his 200th strikeout of the season, in just 20 starts, becoming just the 4th pitcher to record 200 strikeouts in 20 starts or less. Sale joined Hall of Famers Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez in this elite company.

Sale ended up going 6.0 scoreless innings, striking out 9, walking 2 and allowing 4 hits.

Jackie Bradley Jr. made another highlight reel catch in the 1st inning.

Mookie Betts was 2-3 and Jackie Bradley Jr. was 2-4, both with doubles.

The Red Sox improved their lead to 3.5 games ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees.
