The Boston Red Sox lost to the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night, losing 3-2 as catcher Carlos Narvaez was called for catcher's interference with the bases loaded, allowing the winning run to score with no out in the 10th inning.

Boston had taken an early 1-0 lead when Jarren Duran homered to lead off the game. It was his 9th of the season.

Philadelphia took a 2-1 lead scoring twice in the bottom of the 4th inning, before Boston tied it at 2-2 in the 6th inning. when Trevor Story drove in Alex Bregman.

Story finished the game 2-4. Ceddanne Rafaela was 2-4. Abraham Toro and Roman Anthony each had a double for the Red Sox.

Boston struck out 16 times in the game, and left 8 runners on bases.

Walker Buehler pitched 7.0 strong innings. He allowed just 6 hits and 2 runs, 1 of which was earned. He struck out 4 and walked 1.

Aroldis Chapman pitched the 8th inning, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1. Garrett Whitlock pitched the 9th inning, striking out the side. Jordan Hicks took the loss and is 1-6. He walked 2 in the 10th inning.

Boston is now 54-48 and in 3rd place in the  AL East, 6 games back out of the 1st place Tampa Bay Rays. They are tied for 2nd place in the Wild Card playoff standings.

The Red Sox and Phillies will play the middle game of the 3-game series on Tuesday night, with the pregame starting at 5:45 and 1st pitch at 6:45 on WDEA AM 1370.
