In his 2 prior starts Nathan Eovaldi hadn't allowed a run for the Boston Red Sox, but on Friday night, he was lit up for 8 runs in 2.2 innings. It didn't matter as the Red Sox came back, scoring 6 runs in the 6th inning, 3 in the 7th and 5 in the 8th inning en route to a 19-12 victory over Baltimore Friday night, August 10th.

In fairness to Eovaldi, of the 8 runs, only 4 were earned as Jackie Bradley Jr. committed a rare error. Eovaldi gave up 10 hits, didn't strike out a batter and walked 2.

The Red Sox pounded out 16 hits. Mookie Betts was 3-4 with a double and a walk, increasing his AL leading batting average to .352. Brock Holt was 3-4 with a homer and a walk, driving in 3 runs. Holt got the Red Sox started in the 6th inning with a solo homer as the Red Sox batted around. Andrew Benintendi hit his 15th homer of the season, driving in 3 runs in the game and Xander Bogaerts drove in 4 runs, with a 3 run homer, his 17th, and a bases loaded walk. Jackie Bradley Jr. was 3-4 with a triple.

The New York Yankees lost to Texas 12-7 and the Red Sox lead is back up to 9 games.

The Red Sox play the Baltimore Orioles in a day/night doubleheader on Saturday, August 11th. David Price will pitch the 1st game with the pregame starting at 12:20 and 1st pitch at 1:05. The Red Sox haven't announced a starter for the nightcap (as of Saturday morning) with the pregame starting at 6:20 and 1st pitch at 7:05. Both games may be heard on AM 1370 WDEA
