Red Sox Open Homestand with 12-5 Victory Over Cleveland [VIDEO]
The Boston Red Sox opened their brief 3 game homestand against the Cleveland Indians with a 12-5 victory on Memorial Day, May 27th as the Red Sox homered 3 times.
JD Martinez was 2-5 with 2 homers, solo shots in the 6th and 8th innings. Sandy Leon hit a 3 run homer in the 5th, when Boston scored 6 runs.
Xander Bogaerts and Jack Bradley Jr each had 2 hits, with Boagaerts a double and Bradley Jr. 2 doubles. Brock Holt in his 1st game back from the Injured List was 1-3, scoring twice and driving in a run.
Rick Porcello picked up the win for the Red Sox, throwing 6.2 innings, allowing 8 hits, 5 runs, although only 3 were earned. He struck out 4 and walked 3. Porcello is now 4-4 on the season.
Boston is now 29-25, in 3rd place, 6.5 games behind the 1st place New York Yankees.
The Red Sox and Indians will play the 2nd game of the 3 game series on Tuesday, May 28th, with the pregame starting at 6:10 and 1st pitch at 7:10. David Price is scheduled to pitch for the Red Sox. You can hear the game on on AM 1370 WDEA in the Ellsworth and Bar Harbor area and The Rock 101.9 FM, WOZI in Presque Isle.
Prior to the game, Dustin Pedroia and the Red Sox held a press conference where Pedroia talked about his future after being placed on the 60 Day Injured Reserve List
The Red Sox also honored Bill Buckner, who passed away earlier on May 27th, after suffering from dementia.
