The Boston Red Sox picked up their 32nd come-from-behind win of the season, beating the San Francisco Giants 5-4 on Sunday August 23rd. It was their 10th series sweep of the season.  Boston concluded the 6-game homestand 5-1.

Jake Bennett, pitching on 8 days rest,  allowed 3 runs in the 1st 2 innings but then settled down and pitched 7.0 innings, to improve his record to 8-6. He struck out 6 and walked 1, allowing 7 hits and 4 runs, 3 of which were earned.

Tyron Guerrero pitched the 8th inning and Aroldis Chapman earned his 29th save of the season, striking out 1 and retiring all 3 batters in-a-row in the 9th inning.

Nick Sogard was 2-3 with a double and a solo homer in the 2nd inning.

Ceddanne Rafaela was 3-4 driving in 2 runs.

Jahmai Jones was 2-2 with a single and triple.

Mickey Gasper was 1-3 with a pinch-hit RBI double in the 4th innings when the Red Sox took the lead 5-3.

Connor Wong was 2-3 with a RBI double in the 4th inning.

The Red Sox head out on the road with a 7-game road trip. They take on the Miami Marlins for 3 games and then 4 games against the Yankees. The Red Sox are in 3rd place in the AL East 6 games behind the 1st place Tampa Bay Rays and 3 games behind the 2nd place New York Yankees.
