Friday night's 6-5 loss to the New York Yankees pretty much capsulized the Boston Red Sox's 2020 season. They had a good starting pitching effort, their bullpen blew the game and they lost to the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. Boston now has lost 11 straight games to the Yankees, dating back to 2019 and 16 of the last 17 games going back to July 2019

Boston led 4-0 after 6 innings, thanks to Christian Arroyo's 3 run home run in the bottom of the 4th inning and Martin Perez's excellent starting pitching effort. Perez went 6.0 shutout innings and allowed just 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7

Darwinzon Hernandez, fresh off the injured list pitched part of the 7th inning allowing 2 runs on 1 hit, as he walked 2 getting 2 outs before Marcus Walden closed out the inning.

Ryan Brasier pitched the 8th inning and allowed 1 run before Matt Barnes blew the save in the 9th inning, allowing the game tying homer to Gary Sanchez.

The score remained tied through the 10th inning, and in the 11th inning each team scored a run before the Yankees won it in the 12th inning n DJ LeMahieu's double.

Arroyo ended up 3-5 driving in 4 runs for the Red Sox. Christian Vazquez was 3-5 with 2 doubles. Xander Bogaerts was 2-5 and has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games. Alex Verdugo was 1-2 extending his hitting streak to 8 games but was removed in the bottom of the 3rd inning for precautionary reasons with left hamstring tightness.

Sanchez was 2-5 with a double and homer while Aaron Hicks was 2-5
