Despite striking out 14 White Sox players and outhitting Chicago 15-12 the Boston Red Sox fell to the White Sox 8-7 Wednesday afternoon at Fenway Park. The loss dropped the Red Sox home record to 20-20 as they jet off to London to play the Yankees in a 2 game series starting on Saturday, June 29th.

The Red Sox trailed the  entire game until the bottom of the 8th, when they took a 7-6 lead. But Matt Barnes blew his 6th save of the season, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits getting just 1 out in the 9th inning as Bobby Abreu hit a 2 run homer.

Chris Sale went 6 innings, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits. He struck out 10 and walked 1.

Rafael Devers led Boston's hitting attack going 3-4 with 2 doubles. Xander Bogaerts was 2-5 driving in 2 runs. JD Martinez was 2-3 with a homer and a double. Jackie Bradley Fr was 2-3

Steven Wright made his 1st appearance for the Red Sox, pitching the 8th inning. He allowed 1 hit and struck out 1.

The Red Sox are now 44-38 and are 9 games behind the 1st place New York Yankees. When the Red Sox and Yankees play in London, the Red Sox will be the home team.
