The Boston Red Sox fell to the Detroit Tigers Monday, April 11th 3-1 in the opener of the 3-game series in Detroit as the Red Sox' bats were only able to muster 4 hits in the game.
Michael Wacha started on the mound for Boston and went 4.1 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits. He struck out 4 and walked 3
Matt Strahm was the 1st out of the bullpen getting the last 2 outs in the 5th inning, striking out both batters he faced.
Matt Barnes made his 1st appearance of 2022, pitching the 6th inning. He allowed a double, but no runs and struck out 1.
Austin Davis came on in the 7th inning and allowed 1 run and 2 hits. He struck out 1 and was tagged with the loss.
Ryan Brasier came on in the 8th and managed only 1 out, allowing 2 hits and a home run to Javier Baez. Baez's home was a 2-run shot, with one run being charged to Davis.
Phillips Valdez came in and struck out the final 2 batters in the 8th.
Boston's lone run came off the bat of JD Martinez, a solo shot in the 5th inning. It was JD's 1st homer of the season.
Rafael Devers was 2-4 with a double
Kike Hernandez was 0-4 and has started the season 0-17 in the leadoff spot.
