The Boston Red Sox lost the Atlanta Braves 3-2 in 10 innings on Friday night, May 15th in Atlanta.

Marcelo Mayer's 2nd home run of the season tied the game at 2-2 in the 7th inning. But in the 10th inning, Boston couldn't score the "ghost" runner from 2nd base while Mike Yastrzemski singled home the winning run for the Braves.

Tyler Samaniego took the loss for the 2nd consecutive night for the Red Sox and is now 0-2.

Connolly Early started for the Red Sox and went 5.0 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 runs, both coming via solo homers. He struck out 6 and didn't walk a batter. Greg Weissert pitched 1.1 innings. Jovani Moran pitched 1.2 innings and struck out 3. Aroldis Chapman pitched the 9th, striking out 2

Mickey Gasper was 2-5 with a run batted in. Ceddanne Rafaela was 2-3 with a double. Carlos Narvaez was 1-3 with a double. Andruw Monasterio had a single.

Boston again couldn't deliver the big hit with runners in scoring position, as they were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left 7 runners on base.

Boston is now 18-26 while Atlanta is 31-14.

The 2 teams will play Saturday night, in the 2nd game of the 3 game series. The pregame starts at 6:15 with the 1st pitch at 7:15 on WDEA  AM 1370.
