The Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 on Wednesday, June 12th as Marcello Mayer hit 2 home runs, his 1st major league home runs.

The Red Sox had 9 hits, 4 of them solo home runs.

Mayer was 2-4 with a solo home run in the 2nd and then again in the 4th inning.

Jarren Duran was 1-4, hitting his 8th career leadoff home run to put the Red Sox up 1-0. The homer was his 5th of the season.

Abraham Toro playing 1st base was 2-4 with a solo home run in the 5th inning, to give Boston the 4-3 lead. It was his 5th homer of the season.

Kristian Campbell, Cedanne Rafaela and Carlos Narvaez each doubled for the Red Sox.

Walker Buehler went 7.0 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs, striking out 7 and walking 1. He tied his longest start of the season and retired the final 7 batters he faced after allowing a 2-run game-tying home run to Yandy Diaz in the 5th inning.

Justin Wilson retired 1 batter in the 8th inning and Greg Weissert got the other 2 outs in the 8th inning. Aroldis Chapman picked up his 12th save of the season, retiring all 3 batters in order in the 9th inning, 2 by strikeout.
