Red Sox Beat Phillies 11-3 with 2 Home Runs and 13 Hits [VIDEO]
Danny Santana wasted no time showing why Red Sox fans were clamoring for his promotion to the big leagues. Batting leadoff he hit his 1st home run of the season in the 5th inning and the Red Sox cruised to a 11-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Friday, May 21st. The Red Sox had 13 hits, and struck out 17 times.
Santana called up from Worcester finished 1-5. The Red Sox designated Austin Brice for assignment to make room for Santana on the roster.
Rafael Devers blasted his 12th home run of the season in the 7th inning, and finished 2-4 with a double, driving in 3 runs.
Alex Verdugo was 3-3 and Christian Vazquez was 2-5 with a pair of doubles, driving in 3 runs.
Xander Bogaerts, batting .345 on the season was 2-5 with a double, driving in 2 runs
JD Martinez batting .335 was 2-4
Martin Perez picked up his 2nd consecutive victory and is now 2-2 on the season. He threw 6.0 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, striking out 7 and walking 1.
Garrett Whitlock went 1.2 innings, allowing 1 hit, striking out 2 and walking 2. Josh Taylor got the final out of the 8th inning with a punchout.
Darwinzon Hernandez came on in the 9th inning and struck out the side.
For the Phillies Jean Segura was 3-4 with his 3rd homer of the season, driving in 2 runs.
Aaron Nola took the loss for the Phillies and is 3-4. He went 5.0 innings, allowing 7 hits and 5 runs, striking out 9.
