After a nearly 2 hour rain delay, the Boston Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles in Baltimore Friday night, 6-2.

Bobby Dalbec who entered the game in a 0-27 slump had a 3 run home run in the 4th inning to give the Red Sox the lead. It was his 2nd homer of the season. He added a single to end up 2-3 with a walk on the night.

Eduardo Rodriguez started for the Red Sox and picked up the win, going 5.0 innings and striking out 2. He walked 3 and gave up 7 hits.E-Rod is 5-0. He has won 7 consecutive decisions dating back to September 19, 2019. The Red Sox are now 50-13 in his starts since the beginning of 2018.

Rafael Devers hit his 9th double of the season. Christian Vazquez hit his 6th double of the season and Marwin Gonzales, leading off and playing 2nd base, hit his 6th double of the season, and had a run batted in.

Alex Verdugo's streak of reaching base safely in 24 games ended, but he almost kept it going with a ball that almost went out of the park in the 9th inning.

Garrett Whitlock pitched the 8th and 9th innings, allowing just 3 hits.

Ryan Mountcastle was 3-4 for Baltimore, with a solo home run in the 6th inning.

Boston is 20-15 and in 1st place, where they have been since April 10th. They are 2.5 games ahead of the 2nd place Tampa Bay Rays.

The Red Sox and O's play the 2nd game of the 4 game series Saturday night, with the pregame starting at 6:05 p.m. and first pitch at 7:05 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA. Garrett Richards (1-2, 4.40 ERA) is scheduled to start for Boston.
