The Boston Red Sox beat the New York Mets 3-1 on Monday night, May 19th at Fenway Park.

Jarren Duran powered the Red Sox, going 2-4 with a triple driving in a run in the 2nd inning. It was his Major League-leading 6th triple of the year. He also doubled int he game.

Alex Bregman was 1-3 with a double and run batted in. He has reached base in 27 of his last 30 games.

Carlos Narvaez, catching was 2-3 with a double and single. In his last 11 games, sined May 4th he's batting .441

Hunter Dobbins started for the Red Sox and went 4.2 innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 run, striking out 2 and walking 1. Justin Wilson who came on in relief picked up the win and is now 2-0, pitching 1 inning. Greg Weissert pitched and inning allowing a hit and walk, striking out 2. Justin Slaten went 1.1 innings striking out 1, retiring all 4 batters he faced. Aroldis Chapman picked up his 7th save of the season, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1 in the 9th inning.

The Mets have lost 4 of their last 5 games.

Tyron Taylor was 2-3 driving in the Mets' lone run.

Alex Cora missed the game because of the graduation of his daughter. He is expected back for Tuesday's game.

The Red Sox are now 24-25, in 2nd place in the AL East, 4.5 games behind the 1st place New York Yankees. The Mets are 29-19, in 2nd place a half game behind the Phillies.

The Red Sox and Mets will play game 2 of the 3-game series on Tuesday night, May 20th with the pregame starting at 5:45 and the 1st pitch at 6:45 on WDEA AM 1370.
