The Boston Red Sox took 2 out of 3 games from the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday, August 15th, beating the Indians 5-1. Xander Bogaerts clubbed 2 homers and drove in 4 runs to help lead the Red Sox to the win.

The Red Sox cobbled together a pitching staff for the game, using 7 bullpen pitchers for the win. Brian Johnson started and went 2.2 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 run. Marcus Walden pitched .1 inning. Darwinzon Hernandez then went 1.2 innings allowing 1 hit. Josh Taylor got the final out in the 5th inning. Nathan Eovaldi pitched the 6th and 7th inning and then Andrew Cashner pitched the 8th while Brian Workman closed out the 9th inning. Eovaldi was credited with the win, his 1st of the season. Together the pitchers only allowed 4 hits, striking out 6 and walking 3.

Meanwhile, Rafael Devers was 2-4, and his homer in the 3rd made him 8 for 8 dating back to Tuesday's game. Devers is now batting .327 on the season.

Andrew Benintendi was 2-4 with a double. Mookie Betts had a double. Bogaerts was 3-4 with the 2 homers,  while Christian Vazquez was 2-4

The Red Sox are now 7.5 games out of the 2nd Wild Card Spot.

The Red Sox are off until Friday, August 16th when they will start a series with Baltimore at home. Rick Porcello is scheduled to take the mound for Boston, with the pregame starting at 6:10 and 1st pitch at 7:10.
