the Boston Red Sox beat the San Francisco Giants 7-5 Friday night, in San Francisco, as Rafael Devers playing his 1st game against his former club, went 0-5 against the Red Sox.

Ceddanne Rafaela playing centerfield, went 3-4 with a 2-run homer in the 6th inning, his 7th of the season. He also had a double. Plus he stole a hit away from Devers up against the wall in center.

David Hamilton, playing 2nd base was 2-4 with a solo home run in the 3rd inning. He drove in 2 runs.

Jarren Duran leading off was 2-5.

Abraham Toro was 1-5 with a double

Wilyer Abreu, in his 1st game back from the 10-day injured list was 2-4 with a run batted in.

On the mound Hunter Dobbins started for the Red Sox. He went 4.0 innings, allowing 5 runs, 4 of which was earned. He struck out 1 and walked 5. Brennan Bernadino picked up the win and is 3-2 on the season. He pitched the 5th inning. Zack Kelly struck out 2, walking 1 in the 6th inning. Justin Wilson pitched an inning, striking out 1. Greg Weissert retired the only batter he saw in the 7th inning. Garrett Whitlock pitched the 8th inning, striking out 2, walking 2 and allowing a hit. Arolodis Chapman picked up his 14th win of the season, pitching a hitless 9th inning, striking out 2, as he recorded his 14th save of the season.

Boston is now 4.0 games out of 1st place with a 40-37 record. They will take on San Francisco in the middle game of the 3-game series on Saturday afternoon. The pregame starts at 3:05 with the 1st pitch at 4:05 on WDEA AM 1370.
