The Boston Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-4 in 10 innings when Wilyer Abreu drove in the winning run as the Red Sox have won 4 games in-a-row.

Boston was trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the 9th but scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to send the game into extra innings. Rafael Devers was 1-4, hitting a solo homer in the 5th inning to give Boston a 2-1 lead. It was his 1st homer of the season, and 1st since August 25th last year. Devers drew a bases loaded RBI walk in the 9th inning to tie the game. After starting the season 0-19 he has hit in 4 straight games going 6-15.

Sean Newcomb went 4.2 innings allowing 6 hits and 1 run. He struck out 5 and walked 3.

Aroldis Chapman picked up his 2nd win of the season and is 2-0. He pitched the 10th inning, striking out 2 and walking 1.

Boston, now 5-4 and St. Louis now 4-4 will play Game 2 of the day-night doubleheader with the 1st pitch at 7:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
