Red Sox Beat Astros 8-6 as Benintendi Saves the Day [VIDEO]
The Boston Red Sox took a 3 -1 lead in the Best of 7 American League Championship Series early Thursday morning, winning 8-6 as Andrew Benintendi made a diving catch with the bases loaded at around 1:15 in the morning in Houston.
The game wasn't without controversy as Jose Altuve hit a ball in the bottom of the 1st inning that appeared to have been a 2 run home run but he was ruled out because of fan interference.
A night after hitting a grand slam homer ,.Jackie Bradley Jr.hit a 2 run homer to give the Red Sox the lead.
Rick Porcello started the game for the Red Sox and went 4.0 innings allowing 7 hits and 4 runs. He struck out 3 and walked 1. Craig Kimbrel picked up the save, but it wasn't easy, as he threw 2.0 innings and allowed 1 run and walked 3 before Benintendi's game saving catch.
Benintendi also had 2 doubles. Xander Bogaerts had a double and JD Martinez was 2-4. The Red Sox had 11 hits.
The Red Sox and Astros play Game 5 Thursday night, with David Price scheduled to pitch for the Red Sox as Chris Sale is being pushed back a day because of illness. Justin Verlander will pitch for Houston. Pregame starts at 7PM with the 1st pitch at 8:09 on AM 1370 WDEA.
