Abreu and Contreras Hit Back-to-Back Homers in 8th Inning as Red Sox Beat A’s 5-4 [VIDEO]

The Red Sox were trailing the A's 4-3 at the end of the 7th inning. That changed after 2 pitches, as Wilyer Abreu homered and Willson Contreras homered on the very next pitch, to put the Red Sox in the lead 5-4. They homered back-to-back but on back-to-back pitches, as the Red Sox beat the A's 5-4.

Sonny Gray picked up his 13th win and his now 13-2 going 7.0 innings. He allowed 7 hits and 4 runs, striking out 5 and walking 2.

Greg Weissert pitched the 8th inning and Aroldis Chapman picked up his 26th save, striking out 2 in the 9th.

Abreu's home run was his 16th of the season, and Contreras' homer was his 23rd. Contreras hit 20 homers all of last year with the Cardinals, and still has 2 full months to play.

Ceddanne Rafaela had a double and finished 2-4 driving in 2 runs.
