Price Goes on Paternity Leave Marco Hernandez Recalled
Prior to tonight’s game against the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox placed left-handed pitcher David Price on the paternity leave list. To fill Price’s spot on the 25-man roster, the club recalled infielder Marco Hernández from Triple-A Pawtucket
Price is is 7-4 with a 3.86 ERA (44 ER/102.2 IP) in 20 starts for Boston this season.
Hernández, has hit .339 (21-for-62) with two home runs in 27 major league games this season, with all 12 of his starts coming at second base. After being optioned to Pawtucket on July 23 he appeared in eight games with the PawSox and batted .400 (14-for-35).
Boston opens a 4 game series in New York against the Yankees Friday, August 2nd, with a doubleheader on Saturday the 3rd. Eduardo Rodriguez is scheduled to pitch for Boston Friday night, with the pregame starting at 6:10 and 1st pitch at 7:10.
