A man and woman from Portland face cocaine and heroin charges after a traffic stop on the Maine Turnpike early Thursday morning, police said.

The suspects, who were returning from New York, were pulled over for speeding through the York toll plaza, said Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland.

A state police drug dog was brought to the scene and the animal indicated that drugs were in the car.

Christopher Rickett, 29, was charged with possessing cocaine. Rickett's wife and two young children were also in the vehicle.

Sierrha Frisbe, 23, who was the only passenger not related to Rickett, was in possession of 50 grams of cocaine and heroin, McCausland said.

Frisbe was taken to the York County Jail.

After the cocaine was seized from Rickett, he and his family were allowed to drive home.
