Bar Harbor officials say three people were injured when a plane crashed behind MDI High School on Saturday.

According to a media release from the Bar Harbor Fire Department, the report of the crash came in just before 11:00 Saturday morning. The plane, with three occupants, had gone down in a marsh behind the high school. A coordinated rescue effort involving Bar Harbor Fire and Bar Harbor/MDI Police Departments located the plane, and the occupants located, with the help of a Warden Service helicopter.

The passengers were walked out of the area to waiting ambulances, where they were transported to MDI Hospital and treated for minor injuries. The names of those involved have not been released. Several agencies aided in the effort.

This crash will be investigated by local authorities and the FAA.
