Penobscot Observatory to Open Friday May 24
Good news for those who want to take a ride up to the top of the tallest bridge observatory open to the public! The Penobscot Observatory, adjacent to historic Fort Knox in Prospect will open to the public for the season on Friday May 24th.
The Maine Department of Transportation had delayed the opening late last month after a valve failed during an inspection of the observatory's fire suppression system. A replacement valve needed to be special-ordered. In the release by the Maine DOT they said
MaineDOTs top priority at the observatory is the safety of our workers and guests. We're glad we can open the site before Memorial Day weekend, and we thank our guests for their patience.
Admission to Fort Knox and the Observatory is $6.00 for Maine Adult Residents and $4.00 for Maine Children Residents. For those from out of state the fee is $8.00 and $4.00
