One Dead in Hancock County Head-on Crash

A person is dead after a head-on crash in Township #7 in Hancock County Friday night.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending an autopsy.

Police say a Ford Ranger, operated by the motorist who died in the crash, was travelling West on Rt. 1 at about 10 p.m. when it the crossed the center line directly into the path of the Ford F-150 driven by Timothy Smith. The vehicles hit head on causing the vehicles to catch fire.

Timothy Smith and Payton Smith were both pulled from the Ford F-150 by motorists who came across the accident.

Attempts to get into the Ford Ranger were also made, but were unsuccessful.

The accident is under investigation.
