Old Town Rallies to Beat MDI 59-48 [STATS]

The Old Town Coyotes Boys Basketball Team rallied from a 32-23 halftime deficit to beat the MDI Trojans 59-48 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor on Saturday evening, January 6th.

The Trojans led 13-10 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 32-23 at the end of the 1st Half. But Old Town went on a 13-5 run in the 3rd Quarter to cut the lead to 1 point 37-36 and then outscored MDI 23-11 in the 4th Quarter for the win.

MDI was led by James Witham with 14 points. Cal Hodgdon had 9 points. The Trojans had 5 3-pointers, with Witham and Spencer Laurendeau each sinking 2 3's and Jarron Biekert the other 3-pointer. The Trojans were a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line.

Brendan Mahaney had a game-high 19 points to lead the Coyotes. Grayson Thibeault finished with 16 points. Old Sank sank 7 3-pointers. Mahaney had 5 3's, with Thibeault and DJ Francis each sinking a 3-pointer. The Coyotes were 4-10 from the free throw line.

The 2 teams will meet in Old Town on Thursday, January 18th at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

MDI is now 5-4. They will host Hermon on Tuesday, January 16th at 7 p.m.

Old Town is now 8-0. They host Orono on Tuesday, January 9th at 7 p.m.
