MDI Hospital Emergency Department Access Reverts to Hancock Street: Wayman Entrance Delayed

Mount Desert Island Hospital is temporarily reverting direct access to the Emergency Department (ED) back to Hancock Street until further notice.

After a brief period using the temporary Wayman Lane entrance as described in an update sent out last week, the hospital determined additional adjustments are needed before extended use. While these updates are expected to take only a couple of weeks, crews acknowledge that winter conditions and the nature of construction projects such as these, may affect the schedule. As soon as there is an update, information will be posted on the hospital website and social media platforms.

 Key Information:

• Individuals seeking emergency care should enter the hosptial campus via Hancock Street.
• Emergency vehicles will also use Hancock Street during this time.
• Signage on campus has been updated to direct emergency patients to enter via Hancock Street.
