Moreland’s 3 Run Pinch Hit Homer Gives Red Sox 1st Victory of 2019
The Boston Red Sox' bats look to be in midseason form, as they blasted 4 homer on Friday night, with the key home run coming off of the bat of Mitch Moreland around 1:15 Saturday morning as he hit a 3-run pinch hit shot into right field to give the Red Sox a 7-6 victory.
The Red Sox also received solo homers from JD Martinez, Xander Bogaerts and Christian Vazquez. Sam Travis started at first base and was 2-3 and Rafael Devers stroked a double.
Nathan Eovaldi pitched 5 innings allowing 8 hits, 6 runs, walking 2 and striking out 3. 3 of the hits he allowed were homers. Brian Johnson pitched a perfect 8th inning, striking out the side and picked up the win. Matt Barnes closed out the game for the save, striking out 2 in the 9th.
The Red Sox, 1-1 will play Seattle 3-1, Saturday night with Eduardo Rodriguez pitching for Boston. The pregame is at 8:10 and first pitch at 9:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
