Missing Skowhegan Woman’s Body Found

This (April 21) afternoon, game wardens used a tracking dog and found the body of Shirley Woods, an 83-year-old woman, in Skowhegan. She had been missing since Sunday. She was last seen near her apartment on 341 Madison Ave., across from Burger King. The body was discovered behind the automotive section at Wal-mart on Fairgrounds Market Place.

Skowhegan police say she suffered from dementia and apparently wandered off and got lost trying to make her way back home, which is less than a half mile from where her body was found.

The death is not considered suspicious.
