The MDI High School Eco-Team is hosting a pop-up thrift store fundraiser this Sunday, November 20th starting at 10 a.m.

Here's Jenny Carr, a member of the Eco-Team with the description of the event, and how you can help!

"The Eco-Team at MDIHS is hosting a Pop-Up Thrift Store Fundraiser and the proceeds will be going to a wind turbine we hope to establish at our school. The wind turbine would provide the school with an additional source of renewable energy.  This fundraiser will be taking place in the gymnasium at 10 am on November 20th. We encourage the community to drop off any clothing, shoes, books, toys, or other household items they wish to donate at our school's main office between now and November 18th. Items will be paid for by suggested donations of $1-$10.

The purpose behind this fundraiser is not only to raise money for the wind turbine project but to promote sustainability and inspire folks to buy secondhand. The fashion industry is the second-largest industrial polluter, accounting for 10% of global pollution. 1.2 billion tons of carbon emissions are released by the fashion industry every year. Changes such as buying secondhand will make a positive impact on reducing the carbon footprint and pollution of the fashion industry. "
