The MDI Volleyball lost their season opening match to the Calais Blue Devils in Calais on Saturday, September 7th. The scores were  13-25, 26-24, 25-17, 20-25, 5-15

After losing the first set, the Trojans came from behind to win the second then jumped out to an early lead in the third cruising to victory and a 2-1 advantage. Calais was able to close out the fourth set which was contested until the end and force the fifth set tiebreak. Unfortunately the Blue Devils took an early lead that they never relinquished handing MDI the loss.

According to Coach Corey

“While we struggled to put balls away in the first set, we passed well, served tough, and played good defense. The girls were moving well as a unit and the hard work that everyone has put in in practice was starting to show. Eventually the hits started to fall against a stingy Calais defense and the girls played a great match. There were good swings, great digs, hard serves, and good movement to the ball. Overall we are in a much better place right now then we were at the same time last year and if everyone on the team keeps pushing each other we’re only going to get better.”

The Calais JV squad defeated MDI 26-24, 25-13, 17-25
