MDI Volleyball Beats Brewer 3-0 for 4th Win in 5 Days [PHOTOS]

The MDI Volleyball Team beat Brewer in Brewer on Tuesday night, October 8th 3-0. The individual set scores were 25-23, 25-16, 25-18. It was the Trojans 4th win in 5 days.

According to Coach Corey

"We struggled a bit to maintain momentum early on against Nokomis Friday night.  Luckily we finished strong and used that momentum to carry us into Saturday evening's match against Gardiner.  Against Gardiner we served tough and hit well and were able to keep the energy high.  A scrimmage against Hampden on Monday gave us an opportunity to try some different things.  Hampden is getting better and we played up and down all night long but were able to win the sets with tough serving when we needed it.  I think the Brewer win was the most impressive.  The girls jumped out to a big lead in the first set behind solid play at all levels.  Brewer started to close the gap and we had to buckle down to close it out, but they pulled it off.  We knew Brewer's strengths were their blocking and that they would try and create opportunities for us to make mistakes.  The girls did a good job of covering the attacks backed by solid play at the net and hard serves to finish strong.  I feel like this group is starting to come together with focus.  Still work to do; there always is, but they are making a push for the postseason."

MDI is now 7-4 and will play at Ellsworth on Tuesday October 15th at 5:30

Brewer is 4-6 and will play at Greely on Saturday, October 12th at Noon
