MDI Upsets Ellsworth 8-1 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Trojans put a damper on Senior Day for the Ellsworth Eagles, as they beat Ellsworth 8-1 on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Ellsworth.

MDI jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning and added 1 run in the 5th inning and 2 more insurance runs in the 6th inning. Ellsworth scored their lone run in the bottom of the 4th inning.

Seth Clark pitched a complete game for MDI for the win. He struck out 6 and walked 1 while allowing 4 singles.

Jack Lee, Sam Giffin, Devin Grindle and Troy Folmer all singled for Ellsworth.

Conner Wagstaff pitched for Ellsworth. He struck out 4, walked 7 and allowed 9 hits.

Stanley Grierson had 2 singles, Riley Swanson had a double and 2 singles, Fin McConomy had a double and Jacob Mitchell, Matt Perconti and Nick Stanley each had a single for the Trojans.

Ellsworth finished the regular season at 11-5 and will host a prelim playoff game.

MDI is now 10-5 and plays host to Old Town on Thursday, June 1st at 4:30 PM on Senior Recognition Day.
