Leading 8-1 the MDI Trojans hung on to beat the Presque Isle Wildcats 8-6 in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday, May 2nd in Bar Harbor.

The Trojans scored a run in the 2nd and then 7 runs in the 3rd inning with Alahna Terry striking the big blow, a 3-run home run.

The Wildcats scored 2 runs in the 4th inning and then a run in the 6th inning to make the core 8-4. Presque Isle scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th but the Trojans were able to escape further damage on a game ending double play. Melodie Jacobs fielded the grounder, and threw out the batter at 1st. Alahna Terry gunned the throw home where Hannah Lawson tagged out the runner trying to score.

Ella Watson piked up the win for MDI. She allowed 8 hits and 6 runs, although just 2 were earned. She struck out 7 and walked 3.

MDI had 10 hits.

Terry had the homer and single, driving in 3 runs. Watson had a double, and drove in 2 runs, helping herself at the plate. Genevieve Lapointe had a double and drove in a run. Lawson had a double and drove in a run. Cate Brown, Grace Hodgdon, Addie Dowsland, and Grace Sinclair each had a single.

Peyton Boinske and Londynn Langley each has 2 hits for the Wildcats. Boinske had a triple and drove in 2 runs.
