#10 MDI Falls to #7 Presque Isle 8-7 in Softball Prelim

The #10 MDI Trojans fell to the #7 Presque Isle Wildcats 8-7 in Presque Isle on Tuesday afternoon, June 9th in a Class B Softball prelim game. .

Trailing 2-0 in the top of the 2nd inning, Ella Watson hit a grand slam home run driving in 4 runs. Grace Hodgdon singled, moving Cate Brown to 2nd. Brown then scored on a passed ball. MDI led 5-2 after 1 1/2 innings.

Presque Isle answered, scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. After 2 innings MDI was on top 5-4.

Presque Isle scored in the bottom of the 3rd inning to tie the score 5-5.

The Trojans took the lead 6-5 in the top of the 4th inning. Cate Brown doubled and then Grace Hodgdon drove her in with a double.

Presque Isle scored 2 runs in the bottom for the 5th inning to take a 7-6 lead as Peyton Jennings singled driving in 2 runs.

MDI tied the score 7-7 in the top of the 6th inning. Ella Watson doubled and Alahna Terry doubled Watson home.

But the Wildcats took the lead for good in the bottom of the 6th inning, when Georganna Curtis singled in Reagan Stubbs.

Ella Watson took the loss for MDI. She allowed 13 hits and the 8 runs, 7 of which were earned. She struck out 3 and walked 4.

Astra Laughton picked up the win for the Wildcats. She allowed 13 hits and 7 runs, striking out 3 and walking 2.

Watson was 2-4, with a grand slam and double for MDI. Cate Brown was 2-2 with a double. Grace Hodgdon was 2-4 with a double. Alahna Terry was 1-4 with a double. Hannah Lawson was 3-4. Addy Dowsland was 2-4 and Melodie Jacobs was 1-3

Astra Laughton was 2-3 with a triple, driving in 2 runs helping herself at the plate for the Wildcats. Jennings was 2-4. Kolbie Langley was 2-3. Delanie Cyr was 3-4. Peyton Boinske , Reagen Stubbs, Madison Brazier each were 1-4. Teorganna Curtis was 1-3.

MDI finishes the season with a 8-9 record.

Presque Isle, now 9-8 will play #2 Gardiner, 13-3 in the quarterfinals.
