The MDI Trojans Softball Team's rally came up short as they lost to the Belfast Lions 4-3 in Bar Harbor on Thursday, May 23rd

Belfast took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning, and that's the way the score stayed until the top of the 7th, when the Lions scored 3 runs to take a 4-0 lead. MDI scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. Mackenzie Dyer hit a ground ball and reached 2nd on an error. Emily York singled to center, scoring Dyer. Ruby Brown flew out to left field, with York advancing to 2nd. Olivia Gray singled, with York advancing to 3rd base. Zalia Garcia pinch hit, with Bailey Goodell running for Gray. Garcia struck out for the 2nd out of the inning. Lindsey McEachern tripled, scoring York and Goodell, but Hannah Chamberlain struck out swinging to end the game.

McEachern was the losing pitcher for MDI, allowing 8 hits, 4 runs, 1 of which was earned. She struck out 6

Maddie Neal had 2 singles for MDI.

Gia Davila was the winning pitcher for Belfast. She struck out 12 and walked 2.

Maya Cunningham and Angela Rodgers had 2 singles each. Sarah Fuller, Brooke Richards, Karagen Stone and Katie Simmons each had a single for the Lions.

MDI is now 7-7 and will play at Husson University against John Bapst on Friday, May 24th at 4:30 and then closes out the regular season at home on Wednesday, May 29th at 4:30 against Ellsworth.

Belfast is 4-10 and plays at Erskine Academy on Friday, May 24th at 3:30 and then closes out the regular season at Camden Hills on Tuesday, May 28th at 4:30
